The Best Sheet Straps

Buy the Gorilla Grip corner fasteners, four to a pack. Corner straps are the mechanism that fixes the actual problem - a fitted sheet pulling off the foot of the bed - and this is the set with the metal clips rather than plastic teeth. Four more below for criss-cross bands, a cheap multipack, a heavy-duty version and plain clips.

Gorilla Grip Gorilla Grip Fitted Bed Sheet Holders for Corners, 4 Pack

Gorilla Grip Fitted Bed Sheet Holders for Corners, 4 Pack

The right default. Four separate corner fasteners means each corner is held independently, so one loose corner does not drag the whole sheet, and Gorilla Grip uses metal clips rather than the plastic jaws that snap in the cold. It is the simplest version of the fix and the one least likely to need thinking about again.

Best for: Most people - one strap per corner, metal clips

FeelAtHome FeelAtHome Criss-Cross Bed Sheet Holders, 2 Pieces

FeelAtHome Criss-Cross Bed Sheet Holders, 2 Pieces

A different mechanism for a different failure. Instead of gripping each corner, two long elastic bands run diagonally under the mattress and pull all four corners inward at once. That holds the whole sheet under tension rather than pinning its edges, which is what works when the sheet is migrating rather than popping off.

Best for: Sheets that shift in the middle, and adjustable beds

3
Luyena Luyena Bed Sheet Straps, 6 Pack, Adjustable Elastic

Luyena Bed Sheet Straps, 6 Pack, Adjustable Elastic

The value multipack. Six adjustable corner straps costs about what four costs elsewhere, which covers one bed plus spares or two beds at once - and spares matter here, because these are small elastic parts that disappear into laundry. Same mechanism as the top pick at a lower price and with lighter hardware.

Best for: Two beds, or spares for the ones you will lose

4
Heavy duty sheet holder Heavy Duty Fitted Sheet Holders with Lock Fasteners and Anti-Slip Pads, Set of 4

Heavy Duty Fitted Sheet Holders with Lock Fasteners and Anti-Slip Pads, Set of 4

The escalation. If ordinary elastic straps keep working loose - common on a heavy hybrid mattress, or if somebody in the bed moves a lot - this set adds a mechanical lock on the strap and anti-slip pads so the whole assembly stops creeping around the underside of the mattress. More money, more hardware, less re-fitting.

Best for: Heavy mattresses, restless sleepers, straps that keep slipping

TTFdacai Bed Sheet Grippers and Fastener Clips, 30 Pieces

Bed Sheet Grippers and Fastener Clips, 30 Pieces

The different tool, included because people keep buying straps for this job and being disappointed. These are small spring clips: they do not tension anything, they hold two layers of fabric together. Useless as a fitted-sheet fix, genuinely handy for stopping a top sheet sliding out of a duvet cover or a mattress pad shifting under a sheet.

Best for: Holding a top sheet, duvet or mattress pad in place

Three mechanisms, and most people buy the wrong one

"Sheet straps" covers three different products that fix three different problems, which is why reviews for all of them are full of people saying it did nothing.

  • Corner fasteners — four short elastic straps with clips, one per mattress corner. They add tension at the exact point a fitted sheet lets go. This is the common failure and the right default purchase.
  • Criss-cross bands — two long elastics that run diagonally under the mattress and pull all four corners inward at once. They tension the whole sheet rather than pinning its edges, which is what you want when the sheet is shifting bodily rather than popping off a corner, and on an adjustable base where the mattress flexes daily.
  • Clips and grippers — small spring clips that hold two layers of fabric to each other. They do nothing for a fitted sheet. They are the right answer for a top sheet escaping a duvet cover or a mattress pad sliding under a sheet.

First, check it is actually a strap problem

Straps fix lost tension. They do not fix a sheet that is the wrong size, and used that way they make things worse: the fabric is held under permanent strain and tears at the corner seams instead of slipping off them.

Measure your mattress with the protector and topperin place. If that stack is deeper than your sheet's stated pocket, the honest answer is a deeper sheet, not hardware. If the sheet fits on paper and still lets go, the elastic has aged — heat is what kills it, and hot washes and hot dryers age it fast — and that is precisely the case straps were made for. The full diagnosis is on its own page.

How the five compare, from the listings

Mechanism, quantity, clip material and stated features for each pick, as published on its Amazon listing.

Only two listings state what the clip is made of, and that is the detail that decides whether a set lasts five years or one winter. Plastic jaws snap; metal clips mark delicate fabric. Clip onto the hem, not the body of the sheet, and the trade-off disappears.

The honest limits

This is a few dollars of elastic. It will not make a thin sheet feel better, it will not fix a sheet two sizes too small, and it is not a reason to keep sheets whose corners have already torn. It also will not stop the mattress itself moving on the frame — that is a different product and a different page.

What it does do is end one specific irritation permanently for the price of a sandwich, which makes it one of the few genuinely good-value purchases in bedding.

About the prices on this page

We do not type prices into pages. Each button carries a figure read from the live listing by our own price check, stamped with the date it last ran. Strap packs change pack size and color on the same listing — a 4-pack and an 8-pack sit behind one page — so check the quantity in your cart.

What we will not tell you

We have not pull-tested these, we have no test lab, and we are not going to publish a grip rating for a clip we have never put on a mattress. The ranking is built on mechanism, stated quantity, stated clip material and what each design can physically do: tension fixes corners, diagonal bands fix migration, spring clips join layers and tension nothing. Our full method is here.

Key specs

  • 4 pack, one per corner (as listed)
  • Adjustable elastic fasteners (as listed)
  • Metal clips (as listed)
  • Patented design (as listed)
  • White (as listed)

What's good

  • Four independent fasteners address the failure directly: fitted sheets fail at the corners, usually the two at the foot of the bed where your feet push
  • Metal clips survive being stretched, squashed under a mattress and washed; plastic clips are the single most common failure in this category
  • Adjustable straps mean one set works on a thin mattress and a thick one, so they move house with you

What's not

  • Metal clips bite hard enough to mark delicate fabric - on linen or a fine percale, clip onto the thick hem rather than the body of the sheet
  • You have to lift each mattress corner to fit them, which is a few minutes of work on a king
  • Four small parts to lose: they come off in the wash with the sheet and end up in the bottom of the drum

Skip this one if

Your sheet is riding up in the middle rather than letting go at the corners. That is a depth problem and a strap will not fix it.

Key specs

  • 2 pieces, criss-cross (as listed)
  • Heavy duty elastic suspenders (as listed)
  • Strong clamps (as listed)
  • Fits all beds (as listed)
  • Black (as listed)

What's good

  • Tensions the entire sheet from underneath, so it fixes middle-of-the-bed shifting that corner clips cannot touch
  • Only two parts to fit and two to lose, and once they are under the mattress you can change sheets without removing them
  • Works on a split or adjustable bed, where the sheet is being pulled around every time the base moves

What's not

  • Both bands have to pass under the mattress, which means fully lifting it once - more work up front than four corner clips
  • A single band under tension pulls on two corners at once, so if one clamp lets go the sheet goes slack on two corners rather than one
  • The diagonal elastic can leave a visible drag line across the fitted sheet on thin fabrics

You want to fit them without lifting the mattress. Corner fasteners can be done one corner at a time; these cannot.

Luyena Luyena Bed Sheet Straps, 6 Pack, Adjustable Elastic

3. Best for Two beds, or spares for the ones you will lose

Key specs

  • 6 pack (as listed)
  • Adjustable elastic (as listed)
  • Fitted sheet holders (as listed)
  • Corner mounting (as listed)

What's good

  • Six in a pack is the right quantity for a house with more than one bed, or for the realistic rate at which these get lost
  • Cheapest per strap on this page, and the mechanism is identical to the top pick
  • Adjustable length, so the same pack works across different mattress thicknesses

What's not

  • The listing does not state whether the clips are metal or plastic, and that is the detail that decides how long they last
  • Lighter elastic than the premium sets, which means a shorter working life before it loses tension
  • No stated grip surface, so there is nothing to tell you how they behave on a slippery mattress panel

You want one set bought once. Spend a little more on metal clips and a stated construction.

Heavy duty sheet holder Heavy Duty Fitted Sheet Holders with Lock Fasteners and Anti-Slip Pads, Set of 4

4. Best for Heavy mattresses, restless sleepers, straps that keep slipping

Key specs

  • Set of 4 (as listed)
  • Lock fastener straps (as listed)
  • Anti-slip pads (as listed)
  • For any mattress size (as listed)
  • Heavy duty (as listed)

What's good

  • A locking fastener holds the tension you set instead of slowly giving it back, which is how plain elastic straps fail over months
  • Anti-slip pads stop the strap assembly itself from migrating across the mattress underside, the quiet reason corner clips end up at odd angles
  • The most substantial hardware here, and the only set that addresses creep rather than just grip

What's not

  • By far the most expensive pick on this page, and for most beds it is more product than the problem requires
  • More components means more to fit and more to go wrong; installation is a genuine ten-minute job
  • Heavier hardware under a thin mattress can be felt through it, which is not a complaint you have with light elastic

Skip this one if

Your sheet comes loose occasionally rather than constantly. Start with four plain corner straps and escalate only if they fail.

Key specs

  • 30 pieces (as listed)

  • Also listed for clothing and cable use (as listed)
  • Blue (as listed)

What's good

  • Clips are the right mechanism for layer-to-layer problems: top sheet to duvet, mattress pad to fitted sheet, blanket to top sheet
  • Thirty pieces for a few dollars, and they are useful around the house beyond the bed
  • Nothing to install, nothing under the mattress, no lifting of anything

What's not

  • They will not hold a fitted sheet on a mattress - there is no tension involved, which is the whole mechanism a loose fitted sheet needs
  • Small spring clips on fine fabric can leave a mark or pull a thread; keep them on hems and seams
  • Thirty small plastic items in a bedroom is thirty small plastic items to find in the laundry

Your fitted sheet is the problem. Buy the corner straps - this is the answer to a different question.

Common questions

Do sheet straps actually work?

Yes, for the specific failure they address, and not at all for the others. Sheet straps fix a fitted sheet whose corners let go - the classic 3am pop at the foot of the bed - by adding tension that the sheet's own elastic has lost or never had. They are genuinely effective at that, and they cost a tenth of what new sheets cost. What they cannot fix is a sheet that is simply too small for the mattress, a sheet riding up in the middle of a very deep bed, or a sheet made of a fabric so slippery it slides as a whole. If the sheet is the wrong size, straps just put the whole fabric under permanent strain and it tears at the corners instead.

Corner straps, criss-cross bands or clips - which do I need?

It depends which way the sheet is failing. Corner straps - four independent fasteners, one per corner - are for a sheet that lets go at the corners, which is the common case and the right starting point. Criss-cross bands run diagonally under the mattress and pull all four corners inward at once; they suit a sheet that migrates or shifts in the middle, and they are the better answer on an adjustable base where the sheet is being worked every time the bed moves. Clips, the small spring type, hold two fabric layers to each other - a top sheet to a duvet, a pad to a sheet - and do nothing for a fitted sheet. Buying the wrong mechanism is the main reason people conclude none of this works.

Will sheet straps damage my sheets?

They can, and where you clip matters more than which set you buy. Metal clips grip hard, which is why they hold - and on a fine percale, linen or a worn sheet that same grip can mark the fabric or pull a thread. The fix is simple: clip onto the thick hem or the elasticated edge, never the thin body of the sheet. Plastic jaws are gentler on fabric but snap more easily, especially in a cold room. Either way, take the straps off before washing the sheet; they are abrasive in a drum and they are the reason people find a clip at the bottom of the washing machine.

Why does my fitted sheet keep coming off?

Usually one of three things, and only one of them is solved by straps. First and most common: the sheet is too shallow for the mattress once a topper and protector are on it, so the corners are stretched to their limit and the slightest push releases them. That is a sizing problem - measure the stack and buy a deeper sheet. Second: the elastic has aged out. Elastic loses tension with heat, and hot washes and hot dryers age it fast; a sheet whose elastic is dead is a perfect candidate for straps. Third: the mattress panel itself is slippery, which is common on quilted protectors and some encasements, and here a gripper pad or criss-cross band works better than corner clips. Our full page on the problem covers all three.

Can I use sheet straps on an adjustable bed?

Yes, and it is one of the cases where they earn their money - but pick the mechanism carefully. An adjustable base flexes the mattress several times a day, and every flex works the sheet loose; this is exactly why sheets for adjustable beds are a category of their own. Criss-cross bands under the mattress are the better choice there, because they hold the whole sheet under even tension instead of relying on four points that get pulled in different directions as the base articulates. Corner straps work too, but expect to re-tension them more often than you would on a flat bed.
